On Working in Three Materials
September 14, 2026
Metal argues with you. Stone waits. Paint lies, beautifully, until you make it tell the truth.
I move between jewelry, furniture, and painting not because I can't choose, but because each one is a different distance from the body. A cuff is worn. A console is lived beside. A painting is looked at across a room. The same idea behaves differently at each of those distances, and I want to see all three.
What holds it together is the palette: black, cream, a pink that shouldn't be in an antiquity, and gold where something broke.
